Sayulita's 10 Best Boutique Hotels
From jungle bungalows to a women-only guesthouse, the Nayarit surf town's finest independent stays, ranked by the standing of the guests who actually slept in them.
Boutique México · July 2026 · 5 properties · from a register of 9,405
Sayulita began as a fishing village on the Riviera Nayarit and became, over a few short decades, one of the Pacific coast's most beloved surf towns, its cobbled streets threaded with taco stands, papel picado and the sound of longboards heading for the point. The boutique hotels here reflect that easy contradiction: barefoot but considered, rustic but attentive. Some sit above the sand, others behind walls of jungle a few blocks from the plaza, and the best of them manage to feel both social and restorative at once.
This ranking draws on the Boutique México register of 9,405 verified independent properties. These ten hotels gathered 3,163 guest reviews between them and average 4.63, and we weighted each rating by its volume of reviews to reward consistency rather than a single lucky season. No chains appear here, and no hotel paid for its place. What follows is the guest record read closely, property by property, with an eye for what genuinely sets each address apart.
No. 3
Sayulita, Nayarit
4.6 · 369 reviews · ≈ $1,450–2,350 MXN est.
Rustic-chic rooms scattered through jungle above the sand, plus a spa, a bar, yoga classes, a restaurant and pools, make Playa Escondida the most resort-like entry here without losing its handmade feel. Guests describe a place for anyone wanting to be in the middle of the jungle beside the sea, in an atmosphere of total calm, and they notice the care in the details: spotless housekeeping, and towels, hammocks and linens that all smell clean. One who stayed three nights in the Golondrina bungalow, welcomed by Gonzalo with a complimentary drink and looked after by Abraham, thought it near-perfect even as he wished the bungalow itself were slightly refreshed.
No. 5
Sayulita, Nayarit
4.5 · 302 reviews · ≈ $1,300–2,100 MXN est.
Sayulinda earns its following on looks and attention to detail, with a handsome pool at its centre and staff guests repeatedly call kind. One reviewer summed it up as very pretty, with the details well tended, and recommended staying despite a few honest gripes. Those gripes are worth knowing: the rooms run small, the pool can be cold, and the glass bathroom door offers less privacy than some expect. A couple of guests also flagged inconsistent service from breakfast staff they understood to be outside contractors. Read together, the reviews point to a stylish, well-kept hotel whose rough edges are minor and mostly cosmetic.
No. 7
centro, Nayarit
4.5 · 292 reviews · ≈ $1,300–2,100 MXN est.
Simple suites and bungalows in a relaxed beachfront compound, Junto al Rio pairs a waterfront setting with a bar and an Italian restaurant, and its guests reward the combination. One called it the perfect mix of jungle and beach and the best option in Sayulita, praising warm, attentive staff, clean rooms and food and drink she found excellent and fairly priced. Another, equally happy, offered the sort of candid note that helps: a water pump next door runs constantly and can be heard outside, though he added that once you're inside the room the sound disappears. Location, value and friendliness carry this one.
No. 8
Col. Nanzales C.P, Nayarit
4.6 · 269 reviews · ≈ $1,450–2,350 MXN est.
Two blocks from the sea in Col. Nanzales, Hotelito Los Sueños is a calm little hotel with an outdoor pool, a bar, and yoga and cooking classes, and breakfast is included. Guests treat it almost tenderly. One called it among the best experiences she'd had and perhaps the only place worth staying, citing personalised attention, the sense of being made to feel at home, and the loan of beach umbrellas and towels. Another rated it ten out of ten for its position near a peaceful, pretty beach, spotless and prettily decorated rooms, and a good breakfast with vegan options, with plenty of spots to eat and drink just steps away.
No. 10
Colonia Avestruces, Nayarit
4.8 · 214 reviews · desde $2,200 MXN
The only property here quoting a published rate, from $2,200 MXN, Avela Boutique Hotel closes the list with elegant rooms, a café, and an outdoor pool with a bar and a tub, all within walking distance of the village. Guests find it polished and personal in equal measure. One described a perfect few days of rest, with attentive staff who made her feel at home, a good breakfast, a calm atmosphere and the pool and jacuzzi as a genuine plus. Another prized being able to swim before check-in, noting a well-equipped pool and jacuzzi and attentive service. At 4.8, it reads as the register's most refined all-rounder.
